Fits: FXST 2000-2017 FLST 2000-2017 FLT 2000-2013 FXD 2000-2017
VT No. 18-3269 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
• Read all the instructions carefully before installing this kit on your motorcycle. Use
your Harley-Davidson manual as a reference while installing this kit.
• Loosen or remove the exhaust system as necessary to clear the right transmission
cover. Drain the transmission oil.
• Loosen the clutch cable adjuster completely.
• Remove the 6 bolts that hold the transmission cover and remove the cover
• Remove the circlip that retains the ball/ramp mechanism. Lift out the ramp
and cable coupling, being careful to catch the three ball bearings.
Disconnect the coupling from the clutch cable.
• Unscrew the clutch cable from the transmission cover. Remove the clutch
cable O-ring from the transmission cover so that it won’t get lost.
• Install the Easy Pull Clutch Assist on the ramp piece as illustrated on
the right. Be sure that the bolt is tight, 10 to 12 ft lbs.
• Slide the included spacer onto the end of the clutch cable. Carefully screw
the cable end back into the transmission cover. Remember to re-install the
O’ring. Snug the cable end in the transmission cover, 3 to 5 ft lbs. Do not over tighten!
• Hook the cable coupler to the clutch cable end and attach the coupler to
the Easy Pull Clutch Assist Clutch arm. Install the ramp mechanism into the transmission cover and replace the circlip.
• Replace the transmission cover: be sure to use a new gasket. Tighten the
cover screws and refill transmission oil to the correct level.
• CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT: Stand the machine upright and remove the clutch inspection cover. Disconnect the cable from the hand lever. Loosen the nut on the adjustment
screw. Using an allen wrench, turn the adjustment screw inwards (clockwise) until all
the play is removed. Now back the screw out ¾ of a turn. Re-tighten the locknut while
holding the screw in place. Re-attach the clutch cable and replace the inspection cover.
Remove excess cable play with the cable adjuster. If excess cable play cannot be adjusted
out per the adjuster, install the supplied upper spacer on the upper end of the cable near
the Lever Perch to take up the difference (see illustration).
• Replace and re-tighten the exhaust system as necessary.
